Manageable Management

How do you manage a manager who has an issue with you and feels threatened by your team members?

Recently I was approached by a colleague who expressed concern about one of our manager's intentions and their impact on our team directly and indirectly. Honestly, I was not shocked to hear that this specific manager had been working very hard to bring our team down and had dedicated his time to discrediting the senior manager and eventually removing our team and company from the project.

I must also admit that I was initially very angry and wanted to retaliate but as I sat back and listened to the remainder of this evil man's plot to destroy my team for his own benefit I couldn't help but to come up with a plan of my own. So, I said I would not stoop to his level but I will take away the one thing he loves. And that one thing is being a part of anything and everything. He lives for the title of the "Savior" of the team and he absolutely hates not being included. The next step would be to regain the leadership of this project. He has taken over and has been responsible for making all of the rules since the beginning and now would be the best time to remove him from that pedestal.

The colleague who brought me this information agreed that we need to have a team meeting to discuss our game plan and to make a decision to stick to it. Our goal is not to discredit this person but to give him exactly what he wants. Now, all we have to do is sit back and watch.

To be continued...
